Lodge Porter

Manpower is recruiting for a Lodge Porter. The Porters' Lodge operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing reception, telephone call handling, mail distribution, health and safety, and security service for the College. As the first point of contact for visitors, the Lodge Porter is key to providing a professional service and welcome to the College. The post-holder works as part of a team of six on a rotating shift pattern, which includes weekends, day, and night shifts.

Details:

1. Payrate - £13.20 per hour
2. Location - Oxford City Centre - no parking available
3. Shift pattern - The Lodge is open 24/7. We have 3 shifts now. The two main shift patterns are Day and Night, finishing and starting at 7am/7pm. It will mostly depend on things like events and formal dinners, when we anticipate heavy foot traffic and generally busy periods.
4. Temp role - potential to go perm for the right person.

Main duties:

1. Provide assistance and information to all visitors to the Lodge.
2. Operate the College telephone switchboard.
3. Ensure that the College's security procedures are followed as laid down in the Lodge Instruction Manual(s) which are reviewed from time to time.
4. Operate and monitor the College's CCTV surveillance equipment.
5. Check in guests and receive cash or card payments.
6. Receive, sort, and distribute all incoming mail, including internal, Royal Mail, and University courier mail items.
7. Receive and despatch outgoing mail from Centres and Departments, including internal, Royal Mail, and University courier mail items.
8. Re-direct mail to current and ex-members of the College.

Desirable:

1. Recent relevant experience
2. Front of house / reception experience
3. Security experience
