Job description

Locum Housing Disrepair Lawyer – Predominantly Remote Working – up to £50 per hour – Midlands

Venn Group’s specialist legal team is pleased to be recruiting for a Locum Housing Disrepair Lawyer to join an excellent Public Sector Organisation in the Midlands.

This assignment will be for an initial period of 3 months with a strong likelihood of extension thereafter. The ideal candidate would work full time on a predominantly remote working basis with occasional office attendance required a few times over three months and IT equipment to be collected on the first day.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within a Local Authority and will have a broad working understanding of Housing Litigation and Disrepair matters to deal with a varied caseload.

Duties may include:

  1. Undertake all aspects of legal work relating to Housing Disrepair
  2. Manage Housing Disrepair cases at all stages of Pre-Litigation/Litigation
  3. Have conduct of Section 82 Environmental Protection Act 1990 cases
  4. Ensure compliance with the Housing Disrepair Pre-Action Protocol
  5. Advise on the management of risk on complex and contentious legal issues
  6. Represent the Council in court and conduct advocacy where appropriate
  7. Negotiate and draft complex and sensitive agreements and documents in the area of Housing Disrepair and provide clear case strategy on cases
  8. Assess evidence in relation to Housing disrepair matters and determine the likely prospects of success and the public interest in prosecuting matters

An attractive hourly rate of up to £50 per hour Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience.
