Locum Consultant Radiologist

Location: St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London
Contract Type: Full-time, Locum
Salary: Up to £65 per hour

Job Overview:

Pin Point Recruitment is seeking an experienced Locum Consultant Radiologist to join a dynamic and friendly team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated radiologist to contribute to a busy and forward-thinking department, working alongside experts with diverse specialties in a highly reputable healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality diagnostic radiology services, including general plain radiography, CT, ultrasound, and MRI.
  • Join a cohesive team of radiologists in overseeing the department's comprehensive diagnostic services.
  • Participate in a full-time on-call rota (approximately 1:15) and weekend work, with time off in lieu.
  • Take part in teaching undergraduates, postgraduate trainees, and radiology registrars, contributing to the department's ongoing educational efforts.
  • Provide leadership in ensuring high-quality services and actively contribute to clinical governance and departmental audits.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to manage the department’s day-to-day activities, enhancing clinical outcomes and service efficiency.

Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Medical Degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • CCT in Radiology or equivalent (or within 6 months of CCT at the time of the interview).
  • Experience in reporting A&E, GP, inpatient, and outpatient radiograph examinations.
  • Proficiency in reporting MRI, CT, and ultrasound examinations, including general CT and fluoroscopy (GI/GU).
  • Ability to take full and independent clinical responsibility for cases.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
  • Experience with contrast ultrasound and CT colon reporting.
  • Active involvement in research, audit, and clinical governance initiatives.

Skills:

  • Basic biopsy and drainage procedures.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in PACS and VR software.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
