This is an exciting time to join East Kent Hospitals, with ongoing significant investment in medical and nursing staff and hospital infrastructure. We are benefitting from an extensive new build in the emergency department and are working with our system partners to develop integrated patient pathways. We are seeking clinicians who can help shape the future of Acute and Same Day Emergency Care pathways contributing to our emerging clinical strategy.
Our acute medical services are supported by a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre, NHS 111 walk-in and a Same Day Emergency Care Unit. These are highly motivated and focused departments, which pride themselves on delivering the highest standards of safe patient care. Clinical governance is central to all that we do; ensuring that patient care, safety and quality are the highest priority.
The QEQM Hospital Acute Medical unit comprises two short-stay Acute Medical Units (A & B), adjacent to the Same Day Emergency Care Unit. Our newly built ‘Rapid Assessment & Majors’ area within the ED footprint serves as an ED – Acute care interface for medical patients, overseen by the ED in-reach Acute physician and Geriatric / Frailty Team. There will be a contribution to the on-call weekday Rota of approximately 1:10 weekday (Category A = 5%) and moving forward a weekend commitment of around 1 in 18 with zero days off in lieu of working a weekend.
We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with three acute hospitals and community sites serving a local population of around 700,000. We also provide specialist services for Kent and Medway.
We’re on an exciting journey of transformation. With a new Medical School at the centre of our community, a focus on research, clinical leadership and making our trust a rewarding and friendly place to work, there’s never been a better time to join us.
