Job description

Locally Employed Doctor - ST1 Registrar Rheumatology

This is a replacement post for a LED doctor to Medicine rotational posts in East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

The appointee will be based at Eastbourne District General Hospital, but this may change depending on service need.

Job Responsibilities
  • Inpatient commitment for both Rheumatology and GIM
  • Acute medical takes, weekend discharge role to be discussed separately after successful interviews
  • Supervising FY 2 and FY1, medical students
  • Quality improvement projects and taking part in departmental training and teaching activities
  • Assisting ward rounds with consultants and reg to have a management plan for each GIM and Rheumatology patients including a provisional discharge date.
  • Completing promptly discharge letters and making sure appropriate referrals are done as part of patient future care which includes OPD.
  • Chasing other department referrals, completing blood test forms and liaising with pharmacy and pathology as required daily.
  • Presenting cases with updates on a daily basis at board rounds and meeting the patient next of kin as required.
  • Working with MDT (OT, PT, pharmacy, nursing team, ASC) to manage patient care effectively during the time of patients' inpatient stay.
