Victim Support Scotland – Empowering People Affected by Crime

We put victims and witnesses at the heart of everything we do so they are heard, have improved health and well-being, feel safer, more secure, and informed and that we are an effective organisation, that makes a lasting difference.

Who We Are?

Victim Support Scotland provides support and information to people affected by crime and campaigns for victim and witness rights. Our services are free, confidential, and tailored to individuals’ needs.

What is the role

Reporting directly to the Head of Service, you will be responsible for a team of Co-ordinators who manage groups of volunteers to deliver and evaluate support to victims and witnesses at local court and community-based services. You will ensure that VSS’s organisational objectives are implemented at a local level and play a role in business planning to ensure that all service users in your local area are aware of and have access to the support they need.

You will manage all aspects of people management for staff in your area, ensuring that employees and volunteers are supported, knowledgeable, and capable of delivering the support that meets service user needs. This role will also have thematic responsibilities across the national service delivery team; these responsibilities will be agreed based on the applicant's skill set. We are looking for someone with experience in building and supporting teams, able to help staff and volunteers excel in service delivery. People management skills are key, alongside skills in resource management and service planning.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Locality Manager, working 35 hours per week.

Working pattern:

Monday to Friday, with a rota for extended hours coverage, including one day a week working until 8pm and a Saturday. Further details can be discussed at the interview stage.

Location:

Motherwell, with flexibility around the locality and occasional work in Glasgow (expenses will be covered).

Salary:

£34,974 - £46,187 + on-call allowance. Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review in line with VSS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances based on experience.

What you’ll need to be successful

We are looking for a dynamic, driven, and motivated individual with a proven track record in managing and supporting the delivery of high-quality support and staff within our community and court services across the West area. You must have a degree qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience, continuing professional development, and the ability to plan and organise complex workloads with shifting deadlines to meet specific targets, ensuring quality output. Good verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability and confidence to develop effective internal and external relationships that deliver organisational goals, are essential. A willingness to be flexible in working hours and the ability to travel as required are also important. In return, you will receive regular training, supervision, and opportunities to expand your skills, including learning about the criminal justice system.

Please note: This post will be subject to a satisfactory PVG check and two satisfactory references.

To ensure you are in the best position to perform to your highest standards during our selection process, make sure you review the competencies outlined in the Job Description and have prepared examples of times you have successfully demonstrated these behaviours in the past.
