Compensation
- $27.35 per hour
- $1.35 per hour afternoon shift differential
- $1.25 per hour weekend shift differential
Responsibilities
- Loading and/or unloading rail cars in a transload environment.
- Receiving product.
- Securing product in rail cars with hammer and nails.
- General maintenance duties.
- Material lifting.
- Keeping the shop and yard clean.
- Snow removal around shop when needed.
- Ensure compliance with all company and legislated safety policies and procedures.
- Complete tasks in a timely fashion according to the "Standard Time Guidelines".
- Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE. PPE will be supplied, readily accessible, properly used and maintained.
- Possesses and demonstrates the ability to perform assigned tasks adhering to the company's Safety, Health, Environmental and Security policies.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma.
- Must be capable of working in all weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of shop safety, shop work practices, mechanical systems, and use of hand and power tools.
- Strong communication skills when using the radio to communicate.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Basic understanding of mechanical equipment.
- Operation of hand tools and air tools.
- Positive work ethic and attitude.
- Team player.
- May work above shoulder level with power and/or hand tools weighing 40 lbs or less.
- Must meet physical requirements of the position and have mobility, vision, hearing, sense of smell, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties performed (CROR cleared medical required).
- May stand and walk on level and uneven surfaces, twist, bend, push, pull, crouch, climb stairs, bend and crawl, grasp, drag, lift, and carry items weighing 40 lbs or less.
- Ability and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Previous industrial experience preferred.
- Previous experience operating machinery as an asset.
- Must provide supervisory references upon request.
