Are you an experienced and compassionate live-in carer looking for a rewarding role with a client who values her independence? We are seeking a dedicated professional to support an elderly woman with a rich background in horticulture and community service.

Job Description

About the Client

Our client is an independent and sociable woman who enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending church, and caring for her beloved garden. She requires a carer who respects her routine, understands her need for autonomy, and provides support with empathy and patience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the client in maintaining her independence while ensuring her well-being.
  • Providing companionship and engaging in friendly conversation.
  • Assisting with light housekeeping (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, post collection).
  • Preparing and cooking traditional British meals.
  • Assisting with mobility, including using a stairlift and wheelchair when necessary.
  • Driving the client to local destinations (church, shopping, appointments) – carer must have their own vehicle.
  • Ensuring medication is self-administered correctly and picking up prescriptions.
  • Helping with a weekly grocery shop and occasional top-up shopping.
  • Respecting the client’s household routines and organization.
  • Notifying the care agency promptly about any issues or concerns.
Qualifications

Ideal Candidate

  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
  • Empathetic, patient, and adaptable to the client’s specific needs and preferences.
  • Capable cook, able to prepare nutritious, home-cooked meals.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, respecting the client’s set routines.
  • Comfortable living in a semi-rural location (shops/services within 1 mile).
  • Non-smoker preferred.
  • Respectful and professional – no rudeness, swearing, or disengagement.

Hours & Working Pattern

  • 8–12 hours per day (including morning, lunchtime, dinner, and bedtime support).
  • Two-hour daily break at a mutually agreed time.
  • No regular night-time support required (emergency assistance only).
  • Live-in rotation: Preferred rota of 3–4 weeks per carer (no weekly turnover, max. stay of 2 months).
