Compassion Veterinary Center is a rapidly growing, state-of-the-art small animal practice in a thriving community. We excel in delivering top-tier medical and urgent care services to pets. Our facility boasts a full spectrum of diagnostic tools, including in-house testing, external laboratories, a well-stocked pharmacy, an in-hospital surgery suite, and advanced imaging capabilities such as in-house digital X-rays and ultrasounds. We provide closely supervised hospitalization during operational hours. We're seeking a Veterinary Technician who embodies leadership qualities and a passion for mentoring. This role is crucial in guiding our LVT team, fostering their growth, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians in performing medical procedures, including examinations, surgeries, and dental cleanings.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and cytology, and accurately record results.
  • Educate clients on proper pet care, including medication administration, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
  • Monitor inventory needs.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct routine and critical procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, wound care, and medication administration.
  • Monitor and care for animals during surgical procedures and throughout their recovery.
  • Lead in creating/maintaining necessary protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging equipment, including taking and developing X-rays.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering their professional development.
  • Lead by example in maintaining high standards of patient care and client service.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and protocols.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their families during all stages of treatment.

Requirements:

  • Current licensure as a Veterinary Technician in the state of New York.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
  • Proficiency in veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
