Job Description:

● Contract: Permanent / 40 Hours Per Week
● Hourly Rate: £15.28ph + £2.52ph for any hours worked between 18:00 - 06:00
● Location: DPD Carlisle, Unit 1, Bacard Way, Kingmoor Park North, Carlisle, CA64FD
● Days of Work: Saturday - Wednesday
● Start Window: 00:00 - 03:30

As a Class 1 LGV Driver for our Transport Department, you'll be responsible for:

1. Making bulk collections and deliveries between various DPD sites and customers nationwide
2. Driving a modern and well-maintained fleet on agreed shift patterns, delivering to HGV-friendly locations
3. Performing trailer swaps or overseeing live unloading and reloading of your trailer, depending on individual customer needs
4. Conducting thorough pre-trip inspections of your vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety regulations
5. Maintaining accurate logs of your journeys, including driving hours, rest periods, and any incidents or delays
6. Adhering to all road traffic laws and company policies, prioritising safe driving practices at all times
7. Communicating effectively with dispatchers, customers, and colleagues to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries
8. Managing your time efficiently to meet delivery schedules while complying with drivers' hours regulations
9. Handling paperwork accurately, including delivery notes, customs documents, and other relevant forms
10. Reporting any vehicle faults, accidents, or other issues promptly to the appropriate personnel
11. Participating in relevant training programmes to enhance your skills and stay updated with industry best practices

What we're looking for:

To be considered for the role you must have:

1. A valid UK Class 1 Driving Licence
2. Minimum 12 months Class 1 experience
3. A valid UK CPC Card
4. A valid UK Digital Tachograph Card
5. Ability to load/unload trailers where needed
6. Clean driving record with no major traffic violations in the past 3 years
7. Excellent geographical knowledge of UK roads and delivery routes

7. Have basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting
8. Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
