We’re Hiring! Forest School Leader Wanted!
Do you love being outdoors (even when it’s raining)? Do you have a knack for sparking curiosity and creativity in kids? Are you ready to make a difference while working in and around Kidderminster? If you’re shouting “YES!”—this could be your dream job!
We’re The World Outside, a family-run business that’s all about inspiring children to explore, create, and connect with nature. We believe in the magic of the outdoors, the power of play, and the impact we can have on young lives. Now, we’re looking for a Level 3 Forest School Leader to join our team and help us create unforgettable adventures for children across Worcestershire and beyond.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us:
- Flexible contract options: Choose casual hours (as-and-when basis) or a salaried position could be available, if you’re looking for something more permanent—especially if you’re a Level 3 Early Years Childcare Practitioner (bonus points if that’s you!).
- Salary: We’re happy to chat about this and offer a package that reflects your skills, experience, and what you bring to the role. Let’s find something that works for both of us!
- Variety: No two days are ever the same, whether you’re leading woodland adventures or helping kids toast marshmallows over a campfire.
- Purpose: You’ll be making a real difference, one muddy smile at a time.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Plan and deliver exciting outdoor sessions that have kids (and grown-ups) raving about their day.
- Create safe, inspiring environments where curiosity and exploration thrive.
- Tailor activities to suit all abilities, including children with SEN.
- Manage groups of up to 30 children (don’t worry—you’ll have support!).
- Keep the Forest School site safe, well-maintained, and ready for action.
- Develop the forest school and kindergarten sites.
- Step in to support our World Outside Kindergarten especially during holidays or absences.
- Help spread the word about what we do, whether it’s through social media posts or chatting with parents.
Your Qualifications and Super Powers:
- A Level 3 Forest School Leader, who can hit the ground running.
- Valid 16 hour outdoor first aid qualification (because safety comes first).
- Enhanced DBS (registered with the update service).
- Food hygiene and safeguarding certifications (or willing to get them).
- Passionate about working with children and the great outdoors.
- A proactive approach to dynamic risk assessment during sessions.
- A solid understanding of wildlife, nature, and outdoor environments.
- Experience leading outdoor sessions for children—bonus points for Forest School experience!
- Creative, flexible, and full of energy.
- Not afraid to get a bit muddy!
- An excellent communicator with a knack for inspiring young minds.
- Someone with a ‘can do attitude.
If you’re also a Level 3 Childcare Practitioner, you get bonus points and a virtual high-five from us!
Our Values (AKA What Makes Us, Us):
- Safety First: We create secure spaces where kids and staff can thrive.
- Initiative: We love go-getters who ask questions, solve problems, and make things better.
- Trust: Integrity is key—we act with kindness, respect, and honesty.
- Courtesy: We treat everyone (and their belongings) with care.
- Accountability: We own our actions and aim to leave the world better than we found it.
- Efficiency: We work smart to ensure high-quality standards in everything we do.
