The Legal Officer undertakes research and drafts advice, that includes sound recommendations, in relation to various employment and industrial relations matters.
The Legal Officer will prepare high-quality documents such as briefs, instruments, agreements, delegations, policies, and correspondence.
The Legal Officer may undertake or provide administrative support to code of conduct investigations, review of actions, and the management of underperformance matters.
Additionally, they may provide assistance with investigation, statutory compliance, and communication with employees regarding privacy matters, public interest disclosures, freedom of information requests, and anti-corruption obligations.
They will also liaise with external specialists in relation to more complex and technical matters.
The Legal Officer may also manage employment, industrial relations, privacy, and other disputes and complaints, with limited guidance or independently.
A secondary function of the Legal Officer is to ensure that the Mint’s employment framework is correctly implemented, and relevant policies and procedures remain current.
Providing guidance to internal stakeholders on these frameworks is also required.
The Legal Officer will work closely with the Director of Human Resources and others within the Human Resources Branch as necessary and may supervise a paralegal.
The duties of this position and operational requirements of the Mint require onsite work and previous Australian Public Service experience.
This position would ideally suit a person who has recently completed an Australian Public Service legal stream graduate program.

Qualification: This position requires a law degree.
Security clearance: This position requires a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
