Legal Counsel - UK

About the role

BYD UK is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support for BYD's operations in the UK, focusing on automotive business, compliance, and corporate governance.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead contract negotiations and drafting for commercial agreements, including dealer agreements, supply contracts, and service agreements.
2. Manage legal compliance for BYD's business in the UK market.
3. Provide legal counsel on regulatory matters including vehicle type approval, emissions standards, and consumer protection laws.
4. Oversee corporate governance and ensure compliance with UK Companies House requirements.
5. Coordinate with external counsel on complex legal matters and litigation.
6. Support the development and implementation of legal risk management strategies.
7. Review marketing materials and customer-facing documents for legal compliance.
8. Assist in intellectual property protection and trademark management.
9. Provide legal training and guidance to internal stakeholders.

Your profile:

1. Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with minimum 8 years post-qualification experience.
2. Previous experience in automotive industry or manufacturing sector preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of UK commercial law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
4. Experience in contract drafting and negotiation.
5. Understanding of EU/UK automotive regulations and environmental legislation.
6. Excellent command of English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is advantageous.
