Job Title: Legal Counsel, Regulatory Services
Location: London (Hybrid)
Purpose of the role:
To provide legal and commercial expertise to the BSI Group as a member of the Legal department, with a particular focus on the Regulatory Services division.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Provide expert legal advice to the Regulatory Services division, particularly on regional regulation of medical devices (including under UK and European law), Product Certification, and associated services.
Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts for RS, the Healthcare sector, and Product Certification, ensuring excellence in all legal documents.
Advise and guide the Group on its obligations in conducting assurance and compliance activities following international laws and industry best practices.
Apply risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on potential legal issues to mitigate risks for the organisation.
Key Skills & Experience:
Qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience.
Experience advising on UK and European legislation relating to medical devices, including MDR, IVDR, MDD.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills.
Strong knowledge of international laws, accreditation rules, and industry best practices.
Ability to apply risk management techniques and provide proactive legal advice.
Desirable Criteria:
Knowledge and experience of AI, particularly in a life sciences context.
Experience working with or for a notified body or a manufacturer of medical devices.
