LEGAL COUNSEL – ENERGY COMMODITIES TRADING – 12 MONTH FTC

HYBRID WORKING; 3 DAYS IN OFFICE, 2 FROM HOME

£115,000 - £125,000 BASIC SALARY

Role Overview:

Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is presently representing a global leader in international wholesale energy trading in their search for a Legal Counsel to join their London based team on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, the successful candidate will provide legal support for all aspects of our client’s trading business, particularly in the fields of energy trading and origination activities. There may also be the opportunity to provide support on shipping, structured transactions, and M&A projects.

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide timely, technically accurate and commercially aware legal advice to the company's trading and origination teams who cover the power, gas, environmental products, oil, biofuels, and derivatives markets.
• Ensure that all legal risks are outlined for the business and advise on the legal process as required, including how best to mitigate such risks.
• Assist all areas of the company’s organisation with legal advice, particularly the trading and origination desks, with respect to master agreements, shipping documentation, specific transactions and the legal risks associated with every form of contract the company enters into.
• Support M&A, corporate and company secretarial activities as required

About You:

• 3 to 6 years PQE
• Strong commercial business acumen
• Energy commodities trading experience
• Experience of legal requirements in European markets desirable
• Company secretarial / corporate governance experience desirable
• M&A experience desirable but not essential
