Job Description – Legal Counsel

Role description:

We are looking for a Legal Counsel.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this will be an opportunity to take on a hugely varied role with intellectually challenging legal and regulatory issues, supporting a team on the cutting edge of some amazing science.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements e.g. customer contracts, strategic partnership opportunities, NDAs and supplier agreements.
  • Providing sound, relevant, and timely advice on a variety of legal topics. You will support and advise our team on opportunities or business issues across Operations, R&D, Finance, Marketing, Business Development, Implementation, and Informatics. You will be expected to identify and assess legal risks and opportunities, research and proactively manage legal issues relevant to our unique technology, which sits in an intersection of exciting disciplines, and provide counsel accordingly.
  • Promote legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company. Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing, updating and implementing company policies and procedures. Align our ESG and Sustainability practice and policies with the Company’s values.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including the senior management team and attend selected management meetings.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on specialised legal matters e.g. fundraising, patents, trademarks.
  • 20% of this role will involve assisting the Head of Regulation on matters such as conducting research and analysis on various regulatory issues, preparation of OEKO-TEX Eco Passport certification dossiers and the operation of the Legs & Regs committee. You will work with the Legs & Regs Committee to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business. Stay up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect Colorifix and its core markets.

Skill & Knowledge requirements:

  • Qualified to practise law in the UK, US or Commonwealth jurisdiction
  • 2+ years of post-qualification experience as a lawyer (with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating commercial transactions) at an established law firm or a relevant in-house legal team.
  • BSc biological or chemical sciences (or interest in these areas).
  • Demonstrated ability to handle difficult situations, prioritise and execute multiple projects and solve problems creatively in a fast-paced work setting.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills within international environments. An ability to tailor your approach to explain complex legal issues to a diverse range of target stakeholders.

Location: London or Norwich

Remuneration: £60,000 pa

Holidays: 25 + BH + Birthday
