Legal Cashier

Location: London – Hybrid

Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 per annum

An established law firm based in London is seeking a highly experienced Legal Cashier to join their team on a hybrid basis.

The Role

The successful Legal Cashier will be responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s accounts, working independently as the sole cashier. Duties will include:

  1. Handling all client and office account transactions.
  2. Bank reconciliations for both client and office accounts.
  3. Processing payroll, VAT returns, and PAYE.
  4. Posting receipts and payments accurately onto the system.
  5. Processing BACS, CHAPS, and electronic payments.
  6. Managing credit control and debt recovery.
  7. Ensuring compliance with SAR, SRA and statutory regulations.
  8. Liaising with fee earners and partners on financial matters.
  9. Producing financial and management reports.
  10. Handling petty cash and maintaining financial records.
  11. Supporting the preparation for annual audits.
The Candidate

The ideal Legal Cashier will possess the following skills and experience:

  1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a sole Legal Cashier.
  2. Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the accounts function.
  3. Strong understanding of SAR, VAT, and payroll processes.
  4. Proficient in bank reconciliations, ledger management, and posting transactions.
  5. Experience with electronic banking systems and accounting software.
  6. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  7. Strong communication skills to liaise with partners and fee earners.
