The BALA team in London is a trusted and respected team working across all platforms and channel brands in the UK and internationally, delivering first-class business and legal affairs support to the commissioning and production teams.

IS THIS ROLE FOR YOU?

This is a Legal Business Affairs Executive role that will assist the BALA Content team’s activities and support the commissioning, creation, and delivery of original content and marketing assets. The role is suitable for a junior commercial/IP media lawyer or senior paralegal with experience in commissioning and production for Paramount's channels and platforms.

You will support the negotiation and drafting of new development, commissioning, and production agreements, working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. The ability to adapt to changing requirements is essential.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• Make contact with relevant internal stakeholders to negotiate and agree heads of terms.
• Draft and negotiate development and production agreements to obtain rights and rights extensions for Paramount.
• Manage workflows and spreadsheets to track negotiation status.
• Regularly liaise with stakeholders within the BALA team and wider business.
• Highlight problem areas and escalate as appropriate within the team.
• Collaborate with other BALA Legal and Business Affairs Executives/Trainees and Coordinators.
• Assist with drafting and negotiation of other agreements within the BALA Content scope.
• Act as general legal support for team members on ad hoc projects.
• Serve as departmental lead contact for advising on intellectual property rights secured by the Pay TV team.
• Contribute to team meetings and initiatives, including improving contract templates.
• Carry out ad hoc administrative tasks as required.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Background in law and prior experience working for a broadcaster or media organization.
• Team player who is flexible, enthusiastic, and organized.
• Ability to draft and negotiate various agreements.
• Excellent IT skills in major systems including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in broadcast rights and rights exploitation.
• Knowledge and understanding of contracts and rights clearance.
• Good knowledge of rights in the context of TV and negotiations.
