TSR Legal are delighted to be working with a growing CLC-regulated law firm with offices across the UK, currently expanding their Finance & Accounts teams. They are seeking an experienced Legal Accounts Assistant to join their central team and support the Accounts Manager. This role ideally is to be based in Northampton, offering a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, dynamic firm.

The Role

As a Legal Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the firm's finance function. Working closely with the Accounts Manager and an Apprentice Accounts Assistant, you will handle a range of financial tasks, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and providing essential support to the wider legal team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily processing & reconciliation of Client & Office accounts in compliance with SAR & VAT regulations.
2. Handling Client & Office Receipts/Payments, Billing, Supplier & Nominal Ledgers, and monitoring expenses.
3. Running key accounts reports and ensuring efficient cash flow management.
4. Overseeing residual balances and ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules.
5. Administering online banking systems and approving invoices.
6. Assisting in month-end and year-end financial processes.
7. Answering queries from internal teams and supporting financial decision-making.

What We're Looking For

1. 2+ years' experience in a similar legal finance/accounts role.
2. AAT or equivalent qualifications preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of legal finance processes, including WIP, billing, credit control & reconciliations.
4. Understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and experience ensuring compliance.
5. Ability to work under pressure, especially during financial reporting periods.
6. Experience with legal accounting software (SOS Connect/Practice Manager desirable).
