Leeds Law School has been teaching law since 1924 and provides a full range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses. We have a long track record of achievement and student success and in all our activities we ensure excellence in teaching, learning and student experience.
We are investing in our academic provision and wish to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic individual to join our team as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates for the Lecturer role should hold a UK undergraduate law degree, or GDL (CPE), and a Masters’ qualification. They should hold a full legal professional qualification with relevant post qualification experience, or a doctorate. Candidates should have experience of teaching and learning in an HE or equivalent setting, and they should be able to demonstrate a commitment to research and publication at REF level.
Candidates for the Senior Lecturer role should hold a UK undergraduate law degree, or GDL (CPE), and a Masters’ qualification. They should hold a full legal professional qualification with relevant post qualification experience, or a doctorate. Candidates should have experience of teaching and learning on professional legal courses in HE or equivalent setting, and they should be able to demonstrate evidence of research and publication to REF level, including successful funding applications (research and/or knowledge transfer).
We expect all our staff to contribute to our provision and help deliver a high-quality student experience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and should have experience of teaching at least one of the Foundations of Legal Knowledge. Preference will be given to those candidates who can deliver teaching in one or more of the following areas:
- Business Law and Practice
- Civil Litigation
- Company Law
- Employment Law
- Equity and Trusts
- Family and Child Law
- Law Clinic
- Legal Skills (Advocacy, Drafting, Interviewing and Advising, Practical Legal Research, and Writing)
- Personal Injury Law
- Property Law
- Property Law and Practice
- Professional Conduct and Regulation
- Public Law
- Solicitors Accounts
Candidates should be research active and it would be advantageous for applicants to have published in the areas of teaching need identified above.
Occasional overseas travel may be required.
