Job description

The School of Commercial, Creative and Professional Studies at Merton College are looking to appoint a Lecturer in IT to deliver outstanding quality teaching, learning, assessment and tutorial support to students, to maximise achievement and continuous improvement.

You ll play a key role in supporting the development of the curriculum, with employer engagement, and learner skill development central. Acting as a Course Leader and Pastoral Tutor, you ll create and implement innovative teaching, learning and assessment with effective learning support material, methods and applications.

As our Lecturer, we d like you to hold a degree or relevant professional qualification in IT, hold a teaching qualification with recent IT teaching experience in an FE College or school and have experience of teaching on IT related courses. Able to use programming languages, data modelling, cyber security and website development, you ll have strong working knowledge of current IT BTEC Framework for teaching, learning, assessment, and quality assurance (IV). You will also have working knowledge of the T-Level curriculum and the delivery of Apprenticeships in IT.

You ll have a successful record of tutoring and supporting learners and of setting and implementing target setting, monitoring and reviewing progress. You ll have strong evidence of good-to-outstanding teaching, learning, assessment and tracking and effective employer engagement in curriculum design and delivery. With advanced level of computer literacy and general office software management skills, you ll have effective presentation, delivery and time management skills for a variety of audiences with good verbal and written communication in both group and interpersonal situations, at all levels.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
