Lecturer in Computing – Distance Learning

£39,596 - £45,848 per annum + excellent benefits

You will teach remotely but may occasionally need to travel to one of our UK campuses.

16 hours of teaching per week (no Research)

We are seeking passionate Computing Lecturers to join our innovative team within our Department of Computing & Technology. Our lecturers are designing and delivering cutting-edge programmes that aim to meet the evolving needs of employers and prepare graduates for tomorrow’s challenges.

The Role – Lecturer in Computing

As a Computing Lecturer, you will teach on distance learning Computing programmes and collaborate with a team of academics located across Arden's UK study centres, working together to provide the best possible experience for our students. Our blended learning programmes offer flexible daytime and evening classes, while our distance learning programmes engage students through a variety of online learning platforms. As a Lecturer in Computing you will:

  • Deliver engaging and dynamic lectures online for our distance learning students.
  • Take on module leadership, ensuring consistent quality and development of learning materials and schemes of work.
  • Oversee assessment marking, create authentic assessments, and provide high-quality feedback.
  • Lead or support the creation of new programmes and refresh existing ones to align with industry trends and employer requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide academic advice and support to students.
  • Drive innovation in teaching methods, student support, and assessment techniques.

About You

To be successful as a Lecturer in Computing here at Arden you must have:

  • Ideally educated to at least at Masters level or equivalent professional qualification in a Computing Science or related discipline or with significant industry experience alongside your academic teaching experience.
  • Proven experience in delivering engaging teaching across theory-based and practical modules, with proficiency in at least 3 of the following areas, across levels 4 to 7:
    • Programming (Python, Java)
    • Database
    • Operating Systems/Networking
    • Digital Business/Ethics
    • IT Project Management
    • Data Analysis/Big Data/AI
    • Cloud Computing
    • HCI/UX/Web Development
    • Cyber Security

Desirables:

  • Ideally, industry experience in the above areas and experience of dissertation supervision is desirable.
  • Confident in using diverse teaching techniques and technologies in both face-to-face and online platforms such as Zoom.
