Lecturer in Agriculture / Trainee Lecturer

Role: Lecturer / Trainee Lecturer in Agriculture

Location: Shuttleworth

Salary/ Benefits: up to £36,878 for Lecturers and £30,900 for Trainee Lecturers DOE and Qualifications, Teacher's Pension, Retail and leisure discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Working Pattern: 37hr (1.0 FTE)

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time, will consider Part Time

Shuttleworth College has a range of resources to support the delivery of courses in Land based and specialist Countryside management and Arboricultural subjects. This role is key in supporting our learners to achieve their land-based qualifications and supporting progression to their next level or onto employment. You will work as part of our small dedicated horticultural team to support the development of our Agricultural resources and represent the college in delivering new qualifications and skills to our learners.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Lecturer in Agriculture to join us at Shuttleworth College. As a Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students through:

  • Preparing, delivering, assessing and verifying subject specialisms on a range of courses and levels
  • Supporting and guiding students to achieve success and realise their potential.
  • Managing students' learning and providing a high-quality learning experience.
  • Contributing pro-actively to developments in the Centre in curriculum development and innovative teaching.
  • Teaching across a range of qualification types and levels including Btec and T-level.
  • Developing and actively maintaining schemes of work for subjects taught.
  • Planning and preparing theory and practical based lessons.
  • Researching and developing new topics and identifying and creating teaching materials.
About you:
  • Degree or equivalent in Agriculture
  • Level 3 vocational qualification in Agriculture or related equivalent qualification.
  • English and Maths or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent
  • Willingness to undertake additional training
  • Recent experience in the Agriculture industry
  • Experience as a teacher, trainer or instructor
  • Ability consistently to provide a high-quality learning experience for all students
  • Ability consistently to demonstrate high levels of performance within the job role
  • Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently face to face, on the telephone and in writing
  • Responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns
  • Current Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
