Lecturer - Hair and Barbering

Location:

Central Bedfordshire College - Kingsway Campus

Salary/Benefits:

Salary from £31,930 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, Teacher's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks:

37 hours per week

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Hair and Barbering to join our Hair and Beauty department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Purpose: Deliver effective, up-to-date learning opportunities, complete administration duties, and engage in professional development.
  • Preparation and Planning: Plan learning programmes, individual lessons, and prepare resources; organize work experience.
  • Classroom Management: Manage learner behavior, ensure health and safety, and manage learning resources.
  • Teaching and Learning Delivery: Monitor attendance, set lesson objectives, provide engaging activities, give feedback, and adapt teaching methods.
  • Assessment and Administration: Conduct initial assessments, set assignments, maintain records, attend meetings, and promote equality and safeguarding.
About you:
  • Qualifications and Experience: Degree in relevant subject, teaching qualification, Level 2 in maths and English, Assessor Award, industry experience, and 3+ years teaching experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Teach across vocational areas, clear presentation skills, interpersonal communication, data analysis, and up-to-date industry knowledge.
  • Teaching and Learning: Use various teaching approaches, solve problems, ensure smooth practical sessions, and apply health and safety knowledge.
  • Professional Conduct: Champion Quality Assurance, motivate and inspire learners, deliver courses in different modes, and maintain continuous professional development.
  • Personal Attributes: Good team player, motivated by learner success, reflective practitioner, good organizational skills, and flexible approach.
