Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Lease Accountant to join a well-established, fast paced, and growing organisation based near Heathrow. This role is an immediate start offering a 3-6 x month contract initially, a hybrid working pattern is on offer along with a competitive day rate.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Finance Manager to deliver the short-term leases project.
  • Analyse opex spend across vehicle and plant spend to determine and apply correct accounting treatment, in line with IFRS16.
  • Prepare and present an analytical review following initial findings to explain the impact on the group financial statements both P&L & Balance Sheet.
  • Implement findings process lease addition schedules, correctly calculating the present value of future cash flows.
  • Restate P&L position ensuring lease payments are reconciled and transferred to the balance sheet. Prepare monthly cash reconciliation, ensure integrity of balance sheet with accurate backing schedules.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Regular and clear communications with all stakeholders to ensure all data collection needs are met accurately and in a timely way.
  • Business Partnering: Ensure all stakeholders are kept up to date on progress and understand current & future processes to ensure ongoing adherence to policy.
  • Ensure consistency of approach & processes are followed and documented to withstand year-end audit scrutiny, prepare audit restatement schedules where required.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting: Assess the future impact of the project on depreciation projections, lease liability balances and ROU asset, ensuring key stakeholders are kept abreast of changes.
Requirements:
  • Qualified or Part Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Sound practical knowledge of IFRS 16 implementation.
  • Proven analytical approach for reporting and presentation purposes.
  • Previous experience of delivering a project to tight timescales in a large scale organisation.
  • Strong system skills including advanced Excel and Power BI.
