Job description

Graduate Learning Support Assistant

Location: Independent secondary school in Kingston

We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team. This full-time role involves providing general support in and around classrooms within schools. No 1:1 is included; however, any SEN experience or passion to work with SEN students would be preferable.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide equal support to students in general lessons and with specific learning needs in the mainstream classroom.
  2. Assist the students in setting and achieving academic goals.
  3. Collaborate with the teacher to help assist in supporting specific groups and admin tasks in the classroom.
  4. Support the students with daily tasks and activities.
  5. Offer emotional support and encouragement.
  6. Provide assistance in mainstream classroom settings.
  7. Aid the teacher with lesson planning and preparation if needed.
  8. Help students with classwork and homework.
  9. Support the overall learning and development of students.
  10. Continuously track and communicate student progress to the teacher.

Qualifications:

  1. Degree in a related field (Maths, Sciences, Social science fields, Education).
  2. Prior experience working with students with special needs is advantageous.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Strong passion for education and a commitment to positively impacting students' lives.
