Job Advert: Year 1 Learning Support Assistant

Location: Primary School, Eccles, Salford
Contract: Long Term

Cover People are excited to recruit a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Learning Support Assistant to join a fantastic primary school in Eccles, Salford. This is a long-term role, offering an excellent opportunity to work closely with children, supporting their learning and development in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to Year 1 pupils, helping them with literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.

  • Manage behaviour effectively and support students in developing positive relationships with their peers.

  • Lead a class independently for one afternoon a week, ensuring smooth classroom management and engagement.

  • Help create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages children to thrive.

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff members to assess and monitor student progress.

Key Requirements:
  • Previous experience supporting children in a school environment, ideally within a Year 1 setting.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to lead a class confidently, particularly during the weekly afternoon sessions once a week.

  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to support and encourage children of varying abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills, both with children and colleagues.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant Level 2 or 3, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
