Start Date: May 2025
Hours: Flexible | Full-time & Part-time available
Multiple Positions Available

Are you passionate about inclusive education? Do you want to play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential?

Herne Bay High is excited to offer multiple opportunities for Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our expanding and forward-thinking SEND team. Whether you’re an experienced LSA, new to education, or exploring a career change, we’re open-minded about hours and experience levels—and we’d love to hear from you.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to support our students on a day-to-day basis while also helping to build an exciting, long-term vision for SEND provision at Herne Bay High. For the right candidate(s), there is scope to work alongside our Lead Teacher of Inclusion on a permanent basis to help shape an inclusive, engaging curriculum designed around the needs of our learners.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with identified SEND, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Mentor and encourage students during mentor time to build confidence, resilience, and engagement.
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENDCo to adapt materials, track progress, and maximise student learning outcomes.
  • Take a proactive approach to supporting students who may be absent, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Participate in supervising access arrangements for students during internal and external exams.
  • Collaborate with departments to deepen your subject knowledge and enhance your effectiveness in the classroom.
  • Contribute to the development of a tailored curriculum for SEND students, working directly with our Lead Teacher of Inclusion (permanent opportunity).

What We’re Looking For:

  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive individual who is passionate about inclusion and equality in education.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND is desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset.
  • A willingness to learn, reflect, and help shape an ambitious SEND provision.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible Working: We’re open to full-time, part-time, or job-share arrangements—just let us know what works for you.
  • Development Opportunities: Regular training, mentoring, and the chance to work on long-term strategic SEND initiatives.
  • Salary: Up to HBHS Band 4 (£24948.00 pro rata)
  • Hours: Flexible
  • A Supportive, Inclusive Culture: Be part of a school where your voice matters and your work truly makes a difference.

Join Our Team – Make a Real Impact

Whether you’re looking for a role to fit around other responsibilities, returning to work, or seeking a path into education or SEND support, this could be the perfect fit.
