Learning Mentor - SEN School


Position: Learning Mentor
Location: Oldham
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Salary: £16.11 PH


Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and making a difference in their learning journey? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Mentor to join our vibrant SEN school team.


About the Role:

As a Learning Mentor, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with SEN, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver one-on-one or small group support, promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide individual and group support to students with SEN, including emotional, social, and academic support.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans.
  3. Support students in accessing the curriculum, ensuring that they are fully engaged and able to participate.
  4. Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop essential life skills.
  5. Foster a nurturing environment that promotes well-being and self-esteem.
  6. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to meet the needs of students.
  7. Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to reports and reviews.

Skills and Experience:
  1. Experience of working with children with SEN, ideally in a school setting (or similar environment).
  2. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  3. Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students' needs.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support (desirable but not essential).
