Job description

Do you enjoy making a real difference to young people who find school a bit more challenging?

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Brent that's on the lookout for a confident, calm, and caring Behaviour Mentor to join their team. This full-time role kicks off right after the Easter break and runs through to the end of the academic year.

The school supports secondary-aged students who've been referred or excluded from mainstream education. Many of them face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, along with behavioural difficulties. The team there is all about giving these pupils a fresh start in a safe and encouraging space where they can begin to thrive again.

If you've worked with children or teens with behavioural or mental health needs before—or just have a natural way with young people who need a bit of extra support—you could be a great fit. The role is not always easy, but it's hugely rewarding, with pay up to £575 per week.

What makes a great Behaviour Mentor?
  1. Experience working with young people who have SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  2. Comfortable using de-escalation or safe handling techniques if needed.
  3. Ready to support students both in the classroom and in their personal development.
What We're Looking For:
  1. Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly those with autism and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  2. A patient, empathetic, and proactive attitude towards supporting children's education and wellbeing.
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  4. A genuine commitment to promoting inclusion and helping every child reach their full potential.
Why Join Tradewind?
  1. Competitive daily pay rates.
  2. More CPD opportunities than any other education agency, supporting your ongoing professional development.
  3. Generous referral bonuses.
  4. Regular networking and social events, connecting you with like-minded professionals.

If you're passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
