Exciting Opportunity - Behaviour Mentor
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support primary school students, helping them develop self-regulation skills, resilience, and confidence. This is a rewarding role where you'll work closely with students who need additional guidance to engage with their learning and thrive in a school environment.

The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide tailored support to individual students and small groups, helping them manage their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build positive relationships. Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, and pastoral staff, you will play a key role in fostering a structured, nurturing, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties.
  2. Implement behaviour management strategies to promote self-regulation.
  3. Build strong, trusting relationships with students and act as a positive role model.
  4. Assist teachers in developing personalised support plans and interventions.
  5. Help students build social skills, confidence, and resilience.
  6. Support students in class to engage with learning and follow routines.
  7. Liaise with school staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic support.

What We're Looking For

Essential Criteria
  1. Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  2. Ability to remain calm under pressure and use de-escalation techniques effectively.
  3. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  4. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping young learners.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team.

Desirable Criteria
  1. Previous experience in behaviour mentoring, youth work, or pastoral support.
  2. Knowledge of restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, or de-escalation techniques.
  3. Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or other behaviour management strategies.
  4. Education or Psychology-related qualification.

Pay & Vetting Information
At Five Education, we operate a PAYE payroll, ensuring full transparency with no hidden fees such as admin charges or employer's NI. We are proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer. Please note that the pay rate includes holiday pay.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding, all applicants must undergo reference checks and TRA checks. If you do not hold a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, you will need to apply for a new one at a cost of £62.70, which will be refunded after 20 days of work if registered on the update service.
