Job description

Are you a passionate Learning Disability Nurse ready to lead and innovate in acute care settings?

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Lead Learning Disability Nurse (Band 7) to drive change across our Learning Disability Liaison Service at Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital. This exciting and expanding role offers the opportunity to shape service delivery, reduce healthcare inequalities, and improve patient experience for adults with learning disabilities across Somerset.

We welcome applications from those looking for full-time, part-time hours (minimum of 30 hours), or job share arrangements.

Main duties of the job

As Clinical Lead, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the liaison service, manage a skilled team, and work with acute care colleagues to implement inclusive care pathways. You'll provide expert advice on complex cases, guide education and training, and lead initiatives to eliminate barriers to care.

This role is perfect for someone who is not only clinically strong but also passionate about service development, patient advocacy, and collaborative working.

Qualifications
  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD, formerly RNMH)
  • Current registration with relevant professional body
  • Experience of working within the acute hospital setting
Experience
  • Managing and leading services.
  • Experience of working with people with highly complex learning disabilities and highly complex health needs
  • Expert knowledge in the development and implementation of highly complex health packages
Additional Criteria
  • Ability to analyse complex data and translate in a meaningful way to implement operationally.
  • Professional and patient-focused approach with inspirational skills, acting as a role model to colleagues
