Lead Veterinary Surgeon Position - Independent Veterinary Practice, Surrey
About Us
Our independent veterinary practice, established in January 2024, is located in the heart of Surrey. We are dedicated to providing high-quality care for our patients, using the latest equipment, including ultrasound, x-ray, dental x-ray, and Lab (Idexx), with plans for further investment in technology, including an endoscope and CT scanner. Our spacious facility features a large waiting area (separate for dogs and cats), three consulting rooms, two theatres, a large prep area, a dog ward, a cat ward, an isolation room, and a staff room.
The Role
We are looking for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our growing team in a full-time capacity, working 4 days a week (9 am - 7 pm) with 1 in 2 Saturdays (9 am - 1 pm). There are no OOHs, allowing for a healthy work-life balance. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is eager to progress their career, potentially aiming for a directorship role within the practice.
Key Responsibilities
-Deliver high standards of clinical care to both clients and patients with professionalism and empathy.
-Lead, mentor, and support colleagues, ensuring high-quality care is maintained across the practice.
-Oversee the daily operations, ensuring all staff adhere to clinical protocols and performance standards.
-Uphold and promote continuous improvement in clinical quality and care.
-Implement and enforce relevant policies and procedures (e.g., drug policy, health & safety regulations).
-Conduct consultations, surgeries, and patient treatment.
-Play a key role in recruitment and selection of staff.
-Collaborate with colleagues to drive practice development and enhance patient care.
-Manage dispensary stock, ensuring effective sourcing and reordering.
-Coordinate locum cover as needed.
About You
We are looking for candidates with at least 5 years of experience (UK or equivalent), who are proficient in routine surgery and medicine. You will be an excellent communicator, comfortable with sole charge responsibilities, and thrive in a team environment. We are looking for someone who is passionate about animal welfare and committed to our core values of trustworthiness, compassion, care, and reliability.
Salary and Benefits
-Competitive salary: £65,000 - £75,000 depending on experience.
