Lead Teacher of Music

Location: Greenwich

Salary: Inner London MPS1-UPS3 + TLR

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: September 2025

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, experienced, and innovative Lead Teacher of Music to join an ambitious and successful Music team. Music is at the heart of our Greenwich School. Every student has the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument free of charge. This means that a large number of students have instrumental lessons, the school attracts talented musicians, and there is huge potential for a wide variety of music ensembles. A wide range of instruments are available for students and resources, making the music department a hugely exciting one to work in.

Are you the person to support our Head of Music to ensure that the music department at our school rivals that in the best private schools? Are you the person to stretch, challenge, support, and inspire our students in and outside of the classroom? Do you share our ambition to inspire and engage students with your subject knowledge and passion for music?

You will play an important role in passing on your subject knowledge through inspiring teaching to our students, ensuring that you can bring out the best in everyone. You will also play a leading role in developing the extracurricular provision in music so that the music department at our Greenwich School has a national reputation for excellence.

About You

  • The successful candidate will have outstanding subject knowledge.
  • Must have QTS.
  • You will be qualified to degree level in your main subject and will ideally already have classroom experience in a secondary school.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding in the subject of Music with an ability to teach all Music to GCSE level.
  • We do, however, welcome Early Career Teachers and will provide them with a full programme of support and mentoring.
  • We are looking for someone with a work ethic that focuses on student enjoyment of learning such that they make great progress and with a deep commitment to their own development through high-quality CPD provided by the school and by United Learning.
