Job description

We are seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to define, develop, and deliver electric vehicle powertrain systems for our flagship Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division. You will work closely with Centres of Competence (CoCs) within SVO and Core Product Engineering to analyze and combine high voltage battery systems and electric drive units, meeting challenging vehicle programme attributes and requirements.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct system functional and non-functional analysis to define expected system functionality and performance targets.
  2. Evaluate multiple system design concepts to arrive at a harmonized solution.
  3. Prepare system requirements specifications and develop functional designs.
  4. Define system logical and physical architecture, Interface Control Document, and system integration plan.
  5. Design and develop system integration tests.
  6. Lead cross-functional technical reviews on the systems.
  7. Adhere to the defined systems engineering process.

Essential Skills:
  1. Experience with high voltage vehicle systems, including high voltage battery, electric drive units, and charging systems.
  2. Knowledge of electric vehicle legislation & standards (UN ECE R100, LV123 & FMVSS 305).
  3. Experience in system definition, architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modeling, systems integration, system assessment, and acceptance.
  4. Understanding of vehicle functional system legislation & standards (ISO 26262).
  5. Experience in a Systems Engineering environment, ideally within the Automotive Sector.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  9. Full driving licence.

Desired Skills:
  1. Experience in applying Systems Engineering and solving complex technical issues using a structured approach.
  2. Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML using IBM Rational Rhapsody.
  3. Experience in IBM Rational DOORS.
  4. Willingness to be involved with overseas testing (UK, Europe, Sweden, USA, UAE).
  5. Class 3 and 4PG driver training level (JLR internal process) or equivalent.
  6. Ability to challenge existing thinking positively while building credibility and trust.
