Lead Speech and Language Therapist (Education)

Due to movement and growth within the team, we are looking for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team as Lead SLT (Education). This person will have the skills and motivation to support our growing team and facilitate effective communication for all.

The successful candidate will deliver Speech and Language Therapy services either in Blackpool, Bolton or Preston and will work in a hybrid way, travelling to all these areas to undertake their Lead role.

Clinically, the Speech and Language Therapist will have a broad range of experience and may have a clinical specialism. They will also have experience of supervising and line managing others. The successful candidate will support our growing team and shape the innovative services delivered by our organisation as a whole.

Main Duties of the Job

There is expected to be a split between clinical delivery and the 2 days Education Lead role.

As a Speech and Language Therapist, the successful candidate will support children, families, practitioners and partners to maximise communication potential.

As the lead for Education, they will line manage SLTs and support the continuous improvement of people and processes.

Job Responsibilities

There is expected to be a split between clinical delivery and the 2 days Education Lead role.

1. Contribute to the planning, co-ordination, monitoring and reporting of services to education settings.
2. Contribute to the definition of quality standards and clinical pathways.
3. Measure and audit performance against standards, policies and procedures.
4. Alongside other lead SLTs and the Core team:
1. Contribute to Lead meetings, Strategy meetings and projects, helping to steer the direction of Communicate SLT CIC.
2. Promote a coaching culture within the teams delivering SLT services, to support the growth of each team member and a cohesive team that delivers high quality services.
3. Line manage team members delivering services within schools, overseeing their supervision, appraisals, authorising leave and expenses on Evalu-8.
4. Agree a spending plan for the CPD budget and oversee purchases in line with the scheme of delegation.
5. Be alert to, report and mitigate risks in contract delivery.
6. Facilitate team meetings when required.
7. Represent Communicate at local and national level.
8. Ensure high quality service standards are provided, linked to commissioner expectations and standards of external bodies and stakeholders.
9. Contribute to relevant tender submissions by supporting service planning and costing.

Person Specification

Motivation

• Motivated for clinical work within the location in which they are based.
• Motivated to steer Communicate SLT to provide high quality services for all.

Experience

• 5 or more years experience working as an SLT.
• Experience in working with a wide range of clinical needs.
• Experience in service planning and impact monitoring.

Qualifications

• Speech and Language Therapy Degree or Masters.
• Leadership / management training or experience.
