Mainframe Exit - Lead Solution Architect

Brand new vacancy for a Lead Solution Architect to join a leading insurance company working on a Mainframe Exit programme.

Length: 6 months

Location: Hybrid 2 days a week in London

IR35 Status: Inside

We are looking for a Lead Solution Architect to drive a programme of work to exit our clients presence on the Mainframe. This includes the migration of data and processing for multiple lines of business to new targets, some of which already exist, others will need to be defined/delivered as part of this programme.

Once all data and processing has been removed from the mainframe we then need to decommission all remaining software and hardware components. The programme scope also includes the decommissioning or rationalisation of associated platforms interacting with the mainframe.

The Lead Architect will be a senior member of the programme team responsible for the e2e architectural design , the associated key design decisions, assuring the lower level designs and ensuring traceability from requirement throughout all design documentation.

You will also be responsible for guiding and directing a small team of Solution Architect/Tech Leads to deliver the above.

• Create a narrative that takes all in the enterprise through the purpose and reason to believe in the strategy – ensuring that it is delivered as imagined even when iterated
• Experience delivering on innovation, with an owners/startup mindset to growth and growing customers
• Experience, excitement and interest in complex architectures which include, but may not be limited to, web applications built using java & angular, iSeries, Mainframe, COTS products and a 'cloud first' approach driving a multi cloud strategic runway (AWS & Azure)
• Experience with the interactions between people, processes and technology
• Fluent in financials and commercial topics and able to create linkages between business and technology and have a sound commercial approach to identifying solutions
• Take a holistic view of the organisation and its technology need
