Sopra Steria's Strategic Digital Services are once again growing their ServiceNow capability and are in the market for Lead ServiceNow Developers! We are seeking an experienced Lead ServiceNow Developer to drive the design, development, and implementation of ServiceNow solutions. In this role, you will direct a team of developers, collaborate with key stakeholders, and drive the successful delivery of scalable and efficient ServiceNow applications. You will be responsible for technical strategy, best practices, and innovative solutions to enhance business processes. We can offer great career progression opportunities, benefits which you can flex to meet your needs and training and development opportunities.

While the majority of your time will be spent working from home, this role is hybrid and there would be travel ad-hoc to our head office in Hemel Hempstead as well as various Sopra Steria and client sites.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of ServiceNow developers, providing guidance on optimal strategies, development standards, and technical architecture.
  • Designing, developing, and implementing ServiceNow applications, modules, and integrations to meet business needs.
  • Configuring and customising ServiceNow workflows, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, and integrations.
  • Developing and maintaining integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, MID servers, and third-party tools.
  • Ensuring the platform is optimised for performance, security, and scalability while adhering to ServiceNow industry standards.
  • Working closely with business analysts, IT teams, and other stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Automating IT and business processes using ServiceNow’s capabilities, including Flow Designer and scripting.
  • Solving issues, providing technical support, and implementing solutions to ensure system stability and efficiency.
  • Running ServiceNow version upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities while minimising disruptions.
  • Ensuring alignment to ServiceNow development standards, IT governance policies, and security guidelines.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience working in a hands-on ServiceNow development role, with expertise and relevant certification; CSA (Certified System Administrator), CAD (Certified Application Developer) and CIS in ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, or other key modules.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, ServiceNow scripting (Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes), Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with third-party systems using APIs, web services, and automation tools.
  • Experience leading development teams, mentoring junior developers, and driving technical initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

It would be great if you had:

  • CTA (Certified Technical Architect)

If you are interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we’re looking for, please do apply, we’d love to hear from you!
