Lead/Senior RoR Engineer for New York-based technology startup

The Company:
Our client is an early-stage startup based in New York that has developed a SaaS product that unifies all of your inboxes from email, work, and instant messaging applications such as Slack, Trello, Asana, Gmail, Whatsapp, Twitter, or Microsoft 365, allowing you to interact with an aggregated list of all of your messages, tasks, meetings, files, and contacts from their many sources in one place.

The Role:
We are looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Full-Stack Engineer who will work with the CEO and design team to turn software vision and concept into a live product, own the development of new features end-to-end, both as a leader and an individual contributor, and drive the technical vision and development of this platform.

This person will be working and interacting with a complex technology stack. The company primarily uses Ruby, Rails, React.js, and Tailwind CSS for backend, API, and UI development, but also implements webhooks, redis, sidekiq, postgres, graph, and elasticsearch for data ingestion, as well as 3rd party APIs. They also use python/django, newrelic, sentry, and papertrail.

Qualifications:

1. At least 8-10 years of experience as a hands-on software engineer/developer, with a focus on the Ruby and Rails tech stack.
2. Ideally, recent experience leading and mentoring others in a high-growth startup environment. We are looking for a senior engineer who can grow into a leadership role, but this is also an individual contributor position.
3. Full-stack development experience using Ruby on Rails and React.js.
4. Thrive in a high growth startup environment (where change is a constant!).
5. Familiarity with most of the above technologies & tools is highly appreciated.
6. Previous experience leading the development of a highly complex SaaS product is ideal, as is recent startup experience.
7. Flexibility; able to adjust and adapt to changes in the business environment and industry.
8. Strong people management skills with proven success in motivating and mentoring contract developers, including providing clear technical direction and code review.
9. Expertise in personal productivity or compliance technology would be a plus.
10. This is a remote role, but must be fully aligned with the US East Coast time zone.
