Location: Cambridge (CB25)
Duration: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week Flexible with core hours between 10am and 4pm (Monday to Friday)

Polytec are looking for an experienced Production Technician to lead and mentor a small team of Technicians for our Cambridge based client. The successful candidate will have excellent hands-on production and test skills as well as good team management experience.


Responsibilities:
  1. Assembly of complex electromechanical products following engineering drawings
  2. Perform testing and quality checks on assembled electromechanical devices to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards
  3. Identify and resolve issues encountered during assembly and testing processes
  4. Work closely with engineers, designers, and other production team members to optimise manufacturing processes and improve product quality
  5. Take responsibility for team outcomes and personal work as well as supporting the team to help foster growth
  6. Clearly convey instructions and feedback to team members
  7. Manage relevant documentation meticulously

Requirements:
  1. Ideally a formal Electronic engineering qualification as well as 5 years relevant work experience
  2. Experience in electromechanical assembly techniques, including soldering, wiring, cable/harness assembly and mechanical assembly
  3. Troubleshooting, fault finding and debugging skills
  4. Experience with optical assembly would be beneficial
  5. SMT soldering (to 0201) and PCB repair skills would be helpful
  6. Proficient in the use of standard test equipment; Oscilloscope, DVM, signal generator
  7. Experience managing a team of skilled Technicians
  8. Ability to mentor and guide team members on correct procedures and standards
