Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and pro-active qualified practice nurse with respiratory qualifications, to join the team based at Riverside Medical Centre for 15 hours per week, working on a Tuesday morning and all day Wednesdays. In addition to the duties normally expected of a practice nurse, the lead nurse will be responsible for overseeing the team's working day including duty nurse team, for managing and maximising ICB, PHE and NHSE driven targets.

The role will contribute to the improving quality of care of our patients across the network of practices. We reserve the right to retract the advert if a suitable person is found before the end date.

Main duties of the job

  • Management of clinics and staff to achieve targets.
  • Stock management. Infection control lead.
  • Wound care and dressings.
  • Immunisations including child immunisations.
  • Contraception.
  • Cervical cytology.

About us

In June 2017 the Colte Partnership was formed consisting of 8 local practices across Colchester and Tendring caring for approx. 80,000 patients. We also work as a collaborative Primary Care Network (PCN) which spans across Colchester and Tendring:

  • Riverside Medical Centre & Ardleigh Surgery
  • Mersea Island Medical Practice, Tiptree Medical Centre and Rowhedge Medical Centre
  • Walton Medical Centre, Colne Medical Centre & Wivenhoe Medical Centre

There is a wide socio-economic and demographic served within this area which will provide an interesting and varied case mix. You will be joining an enthusiastic team of clinicians and administrators. You will be well supported with ongoing professional development (training support, CPD and peer support).

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Current NMC registration.
  • Respiratory qualifications.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.

Experience

  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
