Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Lead Pharmacy Technician to work within our Medicines Homecare team. This would be an ideal development opportunity for a community-based technician to transfer skills to the hospital setting or for a hospital technician to gain experience in a different pharmacy area. As a Lead Pharmacy Technician - Medicines Homecare, you will work closely alongside a team of experienced technical, professional, and homecare administration staff to maintain and develop a high standard of Medicines Homecare to patients with often long-term and complex conditions who receive their medication at home. The role will involve direct patient communication, liaison with clinicians, clinical pharmacists, and nurse specialists as well as external homecare and pharmaceutical companies.

Main duties of the job

You must be a qualified pharmacy technician and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Have excellent organisational skills and the desire to provide a high-quality, safe, effective, and efficient service to our patients. You must be able to work under pressure, prioritise work, and be able to work alone as well as part of a team. You will also help the Chief Technician - Medicines Homecare supervise and manage other members of the team. The role ensures that NUH medicines homecare services are of a consistently high quality and in line with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Homecare Standards and local policy and procedures. The role also includes a regular operational commitment in order to maintain competencies and demonstrate fitness to practice as a registered pharmacy technician. You'll need to be able to work over 7 days of the week, hours of work as required. The department offers a weekend and bank holiday service which you will be expected to participate in.

Training and Qualifications
  • Btec, City and Guilds or NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • General Pharmaceutical Council registered Pharmacy Technician.
Experience
  • To demonstrate the required skills, knowledge, and training to fulfil the requirements of the post.
  • Clear understanding of the role of the technician in medicines homecare management services.
  • Experience of pharmacy-related aspects of medicines homecare.
