Join our dynamic Tri-Borough Regulatory Services Partnership and lead a team delivering essential public protection services

Are you a driven and experienced leader with a passion for improving housing standards? We are seeking a highly motivated Lead Officer to assist with management of our Private Sector Housing team, ensuring the delivery of vital services and the enforcement of relevant legislation.

About The Role

As a Lead Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operational management of our Private Sector Housing team. You will lead, develop, and mentor a team of professional and technical officers, ensuring the delivery of statutory obligations, performance standards, and service delivery plans. You will be responsible for managing workloads, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Team Leadership & Management: Lead and line manage a team of officers, allocating workload, monitoring performance, and providing regular progress reports.
  2. Service Delivery & Enforcement: Ensure the team delivers services and enforces relevant legislation to a high standard.
  3. Technical Expertise: Maintain a high level of technical and legislative knowledge, advising on emerging issues.
  4. Process Improvement: Review and transform processes across the shared service.
  5. Enforcement Oversight: Oversee and monitor enforcement action, including case preparation and court attendance.
  6. Public Engagement: Act as a point of contact for members of the public and businesses.
  7. Information Management: Ensure accurate recording and storage of information.
  8. Partnership Working: Develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external agencies.
  9. Staff Development: Manage staff in line with Council policies, including training and mentoring.
  10. Policy Compliance: Ensure staff compliance with corporate policies.
About You

  1. Strong knowledge of relevant housing legislation and best practices.
  2. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  3. Ability to monitor and achieve performance targets.
