Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated NMC-registered Nurse to join our team as a Lead Nurse. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a proven track record of leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to effectively manage a nursing team in a dynamic healthcare environment. As the Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and clinical activities of Oxford CDC in close liaison with the Operations Manager, to ensure the highest standards of patient care are met.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Staff Management: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff and Healthcare Assistants, ensuring effective teamwork and high-quality patient care. Oversee the performance, training, and development of the nursing team.
  • Clinical Supervision and Coordination: Oversee the clinical activities at Oxford CDC, ensuring compliance with CQC regulations, and overseeing patient care delivery across modalities including CT, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound, Physiology amongst others.
  • Collaboration with Operations Management: Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, reporting on clinical performance, resource requirements, and staff performance, contributing to the overall success of Oxford CDC.
  • Service Development: Drive continuous improvement in clinical practice, service delivery, and nursing standards. Contribute to the development of clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure evidence-based, high-quality care by working closely with Operations Manager, Director of Clinical Governance and compliance and the Director of Service development.
  • Patient and Multidisciplinary Communication: Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Address any barriers to care or understanding and ensure that all patient interactions reflect professionalism and empathy.
  • Clinical Governance and Risk Management: Maintain a focus on safety and quality through the implementation of clinical audits, risk management strategies, and governance protocols by working closely with the Director of Clinical Governance and Compliance.
  • Education and Mentorship: Mentor and provide clinical support to junior nursing staff, healthcare assistants and other healthcare professionals, fostering an environment conducive to learning and professional development.
  • Compliance and Revalidation: Ensure that all aspects of nursing practice comply with NMC standards, including participation in revalidation, statutory and mandatory training, and ongoing professional development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Current NMC Registration
  • Degree in Nursing Studies

Experience

  • Experience at Band 6 level
  • Proven leadership and management skills within clinical setting
  • Experience in Education and Training
  • Demonstrable clinical expertise with evidence-based practice knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Commitment to professional development and ongoing continuous learning
