Lead ICSS and Instrument Engineer

London, UK (Outside IR35) or Paris, France | Residential Assignment | Immediate Start

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead ICSS and Instrument Engineer to oversee the instrumentation and ICSS discipline for a major onshore processing facility (CPF) as part of a large-scale energy project. This role involves managing the ICSS contractor, integrating new infrastructure with existing systems, and ensuring the seamless execution of FEED and EPC phases.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Project Oversight

  • Manage the instrumentation and ICSS discipline for the CPF and all associated interfaces with existing offshore and telecom systems.
  • Oversee FEED and EPC phases, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead technical bid evaluations and review vendor proposals.
  • Provide expertise in ICSS/DCS, alarm management systems, and automation system architectures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, cybersecurity protocols, and best practices in process automation.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Participate in HSE reviews, including SIL assessments, ensuring adherence to international safety and reliability standards.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks related to ICSS and instrumentation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements.

Stakeholder & Interface Management

  • Work closely with engineering teams, contractors, and consultants to resolve technical queries.
  • Interface with the existing offshore platform to integrate new systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop engineering documentation, cost estimates, and schedules.

What You Need to Succeed

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in instrumentation and ICSS for oil & gas projects.
  • Strong knowledge of process automation systems, telecom networks, fiber optics, CCTV, PA systems, and cybersecurity implementation.
  • Previous involvement in FEED and EPC phases within large-scale energy projects.

Technical & Leadership Skills:

  • Proficiency in ICSS/DCS architectures, alarm management, and telecom system design.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
  • Experience leading HSE reviews, risk assessments, and technical evaluations.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and drive project success.
