Job description

A market-leading software and services company in the utility sector is seeking a Lead Functional Consultant. In this role, you will support medium to large-scale projects from pre-sales through to go-live, leveraging your business acumen, technological expertise, and energy industry knowledge. The Lead Functional Consultant will act as the bridge between technical and operational teams and external customers, delivering functional product knowledge, industry insights, and training on how to configure and deploy products for optimal use, maximising out-of-the-box functionality. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support customers with delivery of knowledge transfer, training, configuration, implementation and product support
  • Support the delivery of medium to large scale projects for both external Client and internal change programmes
  • Support PMs to identify the most appropriate training and knowledge transfer for each project
  • Recommend and support Clients to configure solutions to address a clients business need
  • Build relationships with Clients to recommend the best products and services to most benefit their business
  • Create, document and evaluate business processes and identify links to Functional Requirements
  • Identify new opportunities for Product improvements, feeding these into the product roadmap
  • Engage with external partners and industry groups to understand the impact of industry change
  • Review documentation and tools to keep them up to date with product evolution and continuously improve processes
  • Support pre-sales discussions, alongside inputting into project management activities
  • Manage simultaneous project engagements and project work streams
  • Support, mentor and line manage junior members of staff
  • Identify additional up-sell/cross-sell opportunities and/or poorly optimised business processes

Skills & Experience required:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in the energy industry in a Consultant, Trainer, Business Analyst, or equivalent customer facing role.
  • Experience of having worked in a consultative manner with customers to determine and understand their needs and goals to provide tailored guidance in successful adoption of the platform
  • Experience in undertaking business impact assessments to highlight process changes and/or process adoption
  • Experience in providing functional consultancy including understanding functional requirements and aligning them to best suit a customer’s business needs
  • Good skills and best practice knowledge in training methodologies
  • Comfortable in running workshop sessions with customer personnel who range from Exec to Operational level
