Job Description

The Lead Engineer's role is to work with the PM to manage other more junior engineers to install the project to the best possible standard in the timeframe laid out by the PM. They should be hands-on but also able to delegate to more junior members to ensure the senior team has an overview of everything on site that needs doing.

Experience Required:

  1. A good overall understanding of Audio Visual Systems, how they work & how they connect
  2. Rack building
  3. 2nd & 3rd fix of AV systems to a high standard
  4. Site leadership
  5. Knowledge understanding of networks
  6. Understanding of Cinema systems & Surround sound
  7. Able to read & understand technical drawings & schematics
  8. Electrical knowledge
  9. Fault finding & problem solving
  10. Lutron/Extron programming & other configuration-based software systems

The role will be an evolving position responding to the requirements of the company, however the main duties will include:

  1. Working closely with the Project Manager, managing engineers & third-party teams when required on site to install the project to a high standard
  2. Liaising closely with the site team/site managers to get any work by others completed we may need to complete the task in hand.
  3. Being client-facing when needed either with PM or design team or occasionally on your own at the end of the project, ensuring the client is kept happy using the PM for any questions you are not sure of
  4. Working with PM to produce Patch panel layouts & loom schedules
  5. Putting together your requirements to PM/Office for any consumables or other equipment you want to complete tasks on site
  6. Managing junior members of the engineering team on site to ensure they are learning the correct way to do things but also so they aspire to progress, daily tasks & time management throughout the day & start/finish times
  7. 2nd Fix Installation (Data, AV outlets, TV installation, Speakers) termination of AV, Data & Control cabling to a high standard following wiring rules laid out in the handbook
  8. Rack Build, Patch panel Termination, general rack wiring (Power, Data) to our standard laid out in company rack build guidelines.
  9. Understanding & installation of: Lighting & Blind control panels (Lutron, Crestron), TV/Satellite distribution Systems, Video Entry Systems & Access control/locking systems, CCTV Systems, cinema & Surround sound systems, Projectors/Projector screens
  10. Commissioning of Cinema surround systems/DSP’s.
  11. Good understanding of Networks, VLAN’s, able to use a laptop, VPN etc to diagnose basic issues with systems, able to setup static IP’s on equipment
  12. Lutron Programming/Commissioning, being able to use Crestron Toolbox, Domotz, Network scanners
  13. Commissioning of other systems when a dedicated commissioning engineer is not available such as Video Entry Systems 2N, Surround sound systems, CCTV Systems
  14. Being able to read & follow technical drawings & schematics & explain to other more junior engineers
  15. Ensuring when we are working in completed or in/around high-end finishes that the area is protected well to avoid damage to third-party finishes, documenting completed work in case of damage by others.
  16. Feedback to PM on a regular basis so they know where we are on site that day/week
  17. General understanding of H&S on site & ensuring the junior members are working safely

Pay - (£35,000- £45,000); Based on Skillset, Experience & Work Ethic
