Qualifications

Job description

Lead Engineer

We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer to join their team of staff.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  1. Experience in managing in an Engineering Maintenance Environment. Experience in working under own initiative is required.
  2. Experience in delegating duties and line managing on site Engineers
  3. Current Construction Safety Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card at appropriate level of qualification. If electrically qualified, current Electro-technical Certification Scheme (ECS) Card required
  4. City & Guilds Part 3, HNC, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering essential.
  5. Time served apprenticeship in a Mechanical or Electrical biased discipline desirable
  6. Fire safety or Fire Risk Assessment training desirable
  7. Understanding of Quality Management, customer satisfaction and the continuous improvement process
  8. Qualified in or having a Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety guidelines and applicable law
  9. Clear understanding of Legionella prevention requirements within Hospital buildings
  10. Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  11. Demonstrated high level of organisation & time management skills, particularly in an environment with multiple, and sometimes conflicting priorities
  12. Sound fault finding techniques
Duties of this role include:
  1. The provision of Engineering Maintenance and breakdown support to the hospital.
  2. Management and reporting of R & M budgets, reviewing and commenting as appropriate.
  3. Management of Environment and energy reduction
  4. Provide competent Technical, Health, Safety and Environmental support & assistance to ED's and local Hospital Managers, Project Managers and / or Minor works Managers.
  5. Work with the senior leadership team to develop and implement the management tools necessary to operate their facilities to the required standard.
  6. Liaise with the Regional Engineering Manager and Hospital Operations Manager to support and advise on appropriate engineering issues
  7. Cover your cluster sites to meet on-call requirements.
  8. Attend regional/cluster meetings and training courses when required
  9. Provide support to sites within your cluster when required for Holiday, sickness, vacancies, and or general support provision
  10. Produce reports in line with the department's reporting procedure
  11. Liaise with all Engineering sub-contractors to ensure work is completed efficiently, effectively and safely and adequate records are retained on your site.
  12. Line Management responsibility for the Engineering operatives within your hospital.
  13. Ensure the Engineering Planned Preventative and Reactive Maintenance Routine is completed within the required timeframe as detailed in the Standard operating Procedure manuals.
  14. Ensure the EBME Maintenance Routine is completed as detailed in the Standard operating Procedure manuals.
  15. You comply with all relevant mandatory training
