Lead DevOps Engineer - Systematic Hedge Fund (AWS Specialist)

Job Description

We are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to join a highly technical, fast-paced team at a leading systematic hedge fund. This role is for AWS experts who can integrate a wide range of cloud services, build high-performance infrastructure, and drive automation in a mission-critical financial environment.

What You’ll Do:

1. Architect and automate infrastructure in AWS, covering VPCs, Transit Gateway, Route 53, IAM, S3, EFS, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, EKS (Kubernetes), and CloudFront.
2. Design and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or Jenkins), ensuring seamless code deployment.
3. Optimize networking and security across AWS, implementing firewalls, security groups, WAF, and IAM policies to maintain high compliance standards.
4. Manage Kubernetes clusters (EKS) for containerized workloads, ensuring scalability and security.
5. Build infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automate deployments using Python.
6. Own the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for cloud services, from design to production.
7. Enhance observability and monitoring with CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
8. Work closely with quant researchers, developers, and trading teams to ensure robust infrastructure for high-frequency financial systems.

What We’re Looking For:

1. Deep AWS expertise, covering a wide range of services with strong networking/security fundamentals.
2. Expertise in Kubernetes (EKS), with experience in managing clusters and designing secure architectures.
3. Strong Python development skills, particularly in automation, scripting, and API integrations.
4. Experience designing CI/CD pipelines, automating deployments, and ensuring high availability.
5. Networking and security knowledge – VPC peering, private link, VPNs, DNS (Route 53), and AWS security best practices.
6. Experience with distributed systems like Kafka or similar event-driven architectures.
7. Financial services experience is a plus but not required—willingness to work in a high-performance trading environment is key.
