Lead Data Scientist

Our client promotes a balanced work-life approach, allowing employees to work flexibly between home and office. You’ll be based at one of their offices in Tunbridge Wells or Bristol, with at least 40% of your workweek on-site, transitioning to a more office-based schedule in September 2025.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead a team of data scientists to develop and implement advanced data analytics, machine learning, and generative AI solutions to tackle complex healthcare challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, define data science strategies, and drive innovative product development.
- Oversee the end-to-end data process, including data collection, preprocessing, analysis, and model creation to improve decision-making and derive actionable insights.
- Drive the deployment of scalable machine learning models to enhance healthcare services and optimize business operations.
- Mentor and coach junior data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
What You’ll Bring:
- Significant experience in a senior data science role, with a track record of coaching and leading junior data scientists.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver complex AI projects independently, following industry best practices.
- Strong background in mathematics, statistics, and extracting business value from data science methods.
- Expert knowledge of Python and data science libraries, including Scikit-learn, Keras, TensorFlow, and PySpark.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams (engineering, architecture, business analysis).
- Familiarity with MLOps best practices.
- Excellent communication skills for translating complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in the financial or insurance industry is a plus.
